As their summer term topic, Kilmartin Primary School organised a ‘Kilmartin does Glastonbury Festival’ with the final event taking place on Saturday June 22.
This was inspired by the link between Temple Wood’s stone circle and Glastonbury’s stone circle, and also the fact that headteacher Karen Garcia had once played on the main stage at Glastonbury in the 1990s as the singer in a band called the Medieval Babes.
The event activities were all ideas of the children.
Family and friends of Kilmartin Primary School and ELC attended the event on Saturday which involved art installations, pottery, performance from the children and friends, The Wee Druids, The Jugs, Easy Club, DJ sets, face-painting, circus skills, craft stalls and a ceilidh garden.

This unique event celebrated the team work of Kilmartin’s whole school community - following a very successful HM Inspectors of Education revisit and the permanent appointment of Karen Garcia as headteacher - and showcased the spirit of Kilmartin in all its glory!
Karen thanked the pupils, staff, parents and community for coming together and making Kilmartin Primary School and ELC a wonderful place to learn.
Special thanks went to Gillian and Davey Garner for their help with costumes, decoration, music and sound and to Rob Walker, Tom Cole, Stuart Crawford, North Country Cabins and Travis Perkins for building the pyramid stage, which is now a permanent feature in the school grounds, ready for next year’s bigger and better ‘Kilmartin does Glastonbury’.
