With international film crews and Hollywood stars currently filming in the Lochaber area, another powerful story is unfolding just beyond the cameras - one rooted in local voices, lived experience, and communities working together to shape meaningful change.
The Lochaber Experience Matters Advisory Panel (LExMAP) continues this journey on Thursday May 14 (12-2pm) with its next session, "Engaging Matters".
Being held at Voluntary Action Lochaber’s An Drochaid venue, the session aims to bring together local people, organisations, and community voices to help shape what happens next for services and wellbeing across the region.
Building on the momentum of recent sessions the initiative is focused on moving beyond conversation and into action - ensuring lived experience is not only heard, but actively influences decisions that affect everyday life in Lochaber.
The LExMAP panel forms part of the wider Experience Matters movement, which is connecting communities and partners across the region to close gaps, strengthen collaboration, and ensure that lived experience sits at the centre of change.
Davie Snashall of Spirit Advocacy said: "While there’s a lot of attention in Lochaber right now with there is also something equally important happening.
"Engaging Matters is about building on that energy locally. It’s about widening participation, hearing from more voices and making sure lived experience helps drive real, lasting change across the region."
The session will provide a welcoming and informal space for reflection, connection, and collaboration as participants continue to develop the role and reach of the panel.
A free networking lunch will once again open the session, encouraging informal conversation before discussions begin.
Organisers are encouraging participation from across all sectors of the community - particularly those whose voices are often underrepresented in decision-making spaces.
