Organisers behind plans for a new woollen mill near Tarbert have announced details of a community engagement event in Campbeltown next month.
The Mill of Kintyre Community Interest Company (CIC) is aiming to establish a mini-processing woollen mill to support a sustainable wool industry in Argyll by processing fleeces from local flocks.
The project team recently held a public engagement event in Tarbert, where founder Pamela Watson said they were “blown away” by the level of support and interest shown by farmers, wool producers and members of the public from across Argyll.
Now, Mull of Kintyre CIC has confirmed that a second engagement event will take place at Campbeltown Library on Saturday, June 6, from 10am until 12 noon.
The group is inviting anyone with an interest in sheep farming, fleece crafts, heritage skills or the wider plans for the mill to attend and share their views.
Speaking after the Tarbert event, Pamela said the project hopes to provide a fairer, more local wool processing option for producers while also creating opportunities for workshops, skills development and employment linked to Argyll’s textile heritage.
