Lochaber Rotary celebrated Rabbie Burns’ traditional haggis, neeps and tatties event a day early at their weekly Business Lunch Meeting in the Alexandra Hotel.
homely delicious meal, prepared by chefs Sonata and Vas, was carried out on the traditional platter into the dining room by Sylwia, and presented to past-President and avid Burns devotee John Hutchison.
John then proceeded to address the “great chieftain o’ the puddin’ race” with a rousing and emotive rendition of Rabbie’s words.
President Flora McKee, speaking partly in Gaelic, delivered a brief outline of the life of Rabbie Burns following which John led members through a joyful singalong session, which included “Ae fond kiss” and “A man’s a man”.
President Flora closed proceedings by thanking the hotel staff and John for organising a very successful Burns Day lunch and, to the audience, added “when you get home tonight, pour a wee dram and raise a toast to Rabbie Burns!”.
Members responded with warm and appreciative response.
