Editor’s opinion - week 20, 2026
Robbie and Barbara Crawford’s tenure as owners of Kinloch Hotel has been characterised not just as responsible and well-liked local business owners, but also as valued members of the Shiskine community. Ingrained into the fabric of community life in the west of the island, the Kinloch Hotel and Barbara and Robbie did more than their fair share during the pandemic, continually fundraising for local causes, being the focal point for water collections, hot showers during blackouts, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.
Anyone that knows the couple will be well-aware of the huge contribution and part that Robbie and Barbara have played, all while running a very successful hotel, restaurant and bar.
It is sad to see them pass on the baton, however, they have faith that they have made the right decision and that Kinloch Hotel will continue to play a large part in community life.
Running a 24 hour establishment and being available for the community was rewarding, and undoubtedly tiring as is expected in the hospitality industry, so we wish Robbie and Barbara an incredibly well-deserved rest and we thank them for everything that they have done. We wish them the best of luck in whatever they decide to do next.
