Lamlash Football Club started their 2026 campaign on the right foot by winning and retaining the Arran Haulage Cup title in a fiercely contested match against Southend.
The final of the knockout competition saw Lamlash take an early lead with Charlie Ross scoring in the first 15 minutes of the first half. Charlie Ross followed it up with a second goal, but Southend retaliated and scored through Finlay Miller who brought the scoreline to 2-1 at half-time.
A few substitutions made after half-time saw Lamlash receive a penalty which was converted by Dylan Smith. With just 25 minutes left of the 90, Jamie Worthington elevated Southend’s spirts by scoring a hat-trick within 15 minutes.
And then with just minutes left of the full time whistle, which would have resulted in Southend winning 4-3, Lamlash secured a corner and Jake Young equalised the score to 4-4.

Lamlash came out strong in the first half of extra time with Lamlash player, Jack Hird scoring in his debut to put Lamlash ahead again. Lamlash kept exerting pressure with Jake Young scoring two more goals and earning himself the man of the match title.
At the end of extra-time, Lamlash had secured seven goals to Shiskine’s four and the cup was presented to a jubilant Lamlash side.
The Arran Haulage Cup is the first fixture in the Arran football season. Next week the Arran Dairies League will begin with Southend taking on Shiskine and Lamlash hosting Brodick. Dates and time will be confirmed as soon as possible.
