The drumming competition at the Inveraray Highlands Games will return to this year’s contest following a successful inaugural event.
Steven McWhirter, the lead drummer at Inveraray and District Pipe Band, has been announced as the judge for the event.
Steven, a four-time winner of the World Pipe Band Championship with Inveraray, has also claimed 12 World Solo Drumming Championships.
Inveraray Highland Games announced the news on their social media on May 6.
A spokesperson for the event said: “We are really looking forward to working with Steven to develop a fabulous drumming competition open to all drummers under 18 years of age.
“From the early stages of stick & pad, through to drummers playing in pipe bands and even Junior World Solo Drummer Contenders, we will have a class of competition for you to compete in.
“We can’t wait to welcome Steven to this year’s games and look forward to seeing young Drummers showcasing their talent.”
Entry dates and criteria will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Inveraray Highland Games will take place on July 21.
The drumming competition was first launched at last year’s competition.
