A young and inexperienced Campbeltown Pupils side suffered a very sore defeat last Saturday away against East Kilbride YM.
With 25-year-old goalkeeper Alasdair Ferguson being the team’s oldest player on the pitch, it was a harsh lesson for the young players, with Euan Dott the only recognised defender in the squad.
Shoehorning players into defensive positions against a team steamrolling towards the top of the division, there was always only going to be one outcome.
An early penalty and two goals from corner kicks gave the home side a 3-0 lead after 30 minutes.
With the top of the division being very competitive, EK were not going to pass up an opportunity to increase their goal difference, and scored a further five goals before the end to make the final score 8-0.
The Pupils must now regroup quickly for a home match against Giffnock FC tomorrow (Saturday). Kick off at Kintyre Park is 2pm.
