Campbeltown Lawn Tennis Club served up a successful start to the new season with more than 40 people turning out for its Barclays Big Tennis Weekend open day on Sunday.
Held at the John Street courts, the free event attracted participants of all ages and abilities, with families taking to the courts to enjoy an afternoon of relaxed, social tennis.
Coach Colin Hanbidge was on hand throughout the day, offering tips and advice to players, while favourable weather helped ensure a strong turnout.
A club spokesperson said: “It was a great afternoon, and it was lovely to see families playing together and having fun. It was a big hit, and we were delighted to be part of Barclays Big Tennis Weekend.”
The club will now build on the momentum by launching a series of free coaching sessions for women, starting on Wednesday, May 13, from 6pm to 7pm, running for three weeks, in a bid to encourage more players to take up the sport.
