Carradale Music Festival has only taken place five times but it is so popular with Scottish traditional music fans that last weekend’s event was the sixth time it has sold out.
Tickets for the festival have sold out every year since it was founded in 2018 – including for the 2020 event, which eventually had to be cancelled in light of Covid-19, with the 2021 event also shelved amid the ongoing pandemic.
The two-year break did nothing to deter fans of the festival, which has well and truly earned its place as a highlight in the Scottish music festival calendar, attracting visitors from across the world and bringing a welcomed boost to the whole of Kintyre.
The 2024 festival line-up was once again packed with some of the best known and up-and-coming names in the Scottish traditional music scene, with Dana, Calum Campbell, The Laurettes, Rollin Drones and Rhuvaal kicking off the event on Friday night.
The fun continued on Saturday, with the Ali Buckets Ceilidh Band, Calum Campbell, Gunna Sound, Valtos and Ceòl an Aire taking to the main stage, while Arran and Archie McAllister, The Mad Ferret Band and Chunks entertained revellers on the outside stage.
Raymond Gosling, one of the festival’s founders, said organisers could not thank enough everyone involved in making the event such a success.
“What a weekend we had from start to finish,” he said. “A massive thanks to all our 2024 sponsors – Kilkerran Single Malt, AM Transport, MOWI, Kintyre Gin, L Black & Co, Ashbank Hotel, Peter McKerral & Co, Graeme’s Waste Solutions and the Campbeltown Co-op.
“Also, thank you to all the volunteers over the weekend who helped set up and keep the festival running.
“Finally, we would like to thank everyone who supported our event. Year in, year out, we are supported incredibly and to sell out yet again is pretty special.”
He added: “Who’s ready for Carradale Music Festival 2025 already?!”
