An community organisation is set to launch a new support group for carers next month.
After a successful pilot two weeks ago, organised by Sheena Morrison of Carers Gateway Arran, the organisation is looking to found a new group offering support to those caring for relatives and loved ones.
The inital meeting attracted 30 carers, their families and other professionals who all attened to discuss related issues and to enjoy scones and coffee at the Douglas Hotel in Brodick.
Prior to the first official support group meeting in April, Carers Gateway Arran is organising a spring lunch date on March 28 at 1pm at the Douglas to discuss what the group can bring to the island.
It is free to anyone who is either a carer, or involved with caring. To register, email sheena.morrison@unity-enterprise.com or on 07799 075032.
The first actual gathering will take place at the Banner Lodge - next to Heather Lodge - on April 25 from 1 to 3pm.
It will include speakers, advice, support and fun events, and will be the first of regular meetings will take place on the last Thursday of every month.
