For almost 50 years, we have been redefining what education can be: from pioneering co-educational boarding, to introducing world renowned International Baccalaureate (IB) pathways, to becoming one of the most forward-thinking schools in the UK. Today, we continue that tradition with both our respected sailing programme and an exciting new golf programme designed to develop skill, discipline, and confidence.
Nestled in the picturesque town of Helensburgh, on the edge of the world-famous Loch Lomond, Lomond School provides an exceptional setting for learning. As a proudly small school, we place great value on knowing each and every pupil as an individual. This close-knit environment ensures that every young person feels confident, calm, supported, inspired, challenged, safe and happy — enabling them to thrive both academically and personally.
At the core of our senior school is the IB, offering both the Diploma Programme and Career-related pathways. These globally recognised qualifications equip students with the critical thinking, independence, and global perspective needed for success in an ever-changing world. Our students consistently achieve excellent outcomes, and we are proud that 95% gain a place on their first choice course at their first choice university.
Boarding at Lomond is central to our community. Based in Burnbrae House, our co-educational boarding environment offers a warm, supportive, and family-like atmosphere. Weekly boarding is particularly popular with families who live some distance from us, offering flexibility while still allowing students to fully immerse themselves in school life. We provide a weekly school minibus service to and from Oban, connecting west coast families directly to the school.
We are very proud to have been awarded a maximum rating by the Care Inspectorate, recognising our commitment to outstanding care and pupil wellbeing.
