A Campbeltown church is inviting the community to come together this weekend as part of a summer fundraising initiative to help maintain its historic building.
St Kiaran’s Episcopal Church is hosting a series of monthly Saturday markets this summer, aimed at raising funds for the upkeep of the Category C-listed church, constructed in 1891.
The next market will take place tomorrow (Saturday, May 9), between 2pm and 4pm at the church on Argyll Street.
Visitors can expect a variety of stalls offering books, bric-a-brac, art, crafts and some local produce.
Light refreshments and beverages will also be available, and a children’s play area will be set up, making the event family-friendly, with all in the community welcome to attend.
As part of the initiative, the congregation is offering free guest tables to members of the public, giving local people an opportunity to sell their own goods and earn some extra income.
Anyone interested in booking a table can do so by calling or texting 07771 926328.
In keeping with the church’s traditions, 10 per cent of the funds raised over the summer will be donated to local charities.
The markets form part of ongoing efforts by the congregation to support the running and maintenance of the building, after a challenging period in recent years when the church warned it was facing serious financial pressures due to significant repair costs.
