A couple of months ago, we got family membership of liveArgyll.
Since then, I’ve been enjoying weekly Pilates classes, particularly as our recent local climate hasn’t been very conducive to my usual outdoor bike rides. (It’s been a good few years since I’ve attended an organised class so don’t be too impressed!)
My eight-year-old daughter was excited to show me in her new ‘Bear Grylls’ Bible the other day how to look after yourself: eat healthily, get enough sleep, take regular exercise…
It can be a struggle to keep motivated and get the exercise we need, but if we know what’s good for us, we do our best.
Information on how to eat healthy food is never far away, if we care to look. And most of us don’t need much persuasion to get plenty of sleep.
Deep down, though, we all know that we’re more than just bodies with physical needs. We have deeper desires; desires for truth and meaning and love. Souls need to be healthy too.
Knowing that led Bear Grylls to work on his life of Jesus story: ‘The Greatest Story Ever Told.’ He says, “If I could only be remembered for one thing, this would be it… it’s his-story… this story changes us.”
Bear has learned how to look after his soul. He says of his faith, “It’s a backbone to me… it helps me to live more adventurously… to seek truth is courageous.”
Jesus says: “What do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your soul?”
So what are you doing to look after your soul?
