Kyles Athletic 2
Inveraray Shinty Club 1
Kyles Athletic beat Inveraray 2-1 at The Dunoon Stadium.
Ewan Donnan punished a defensive error to put Inveraray ahead within the first 20 minutes, and they took their advantage into the break.
However, Luke Thornton and Will Cowie were on target to give Kyles the win.
Kyles Athletic manager Grant Thornton said: “We didn’t start too well and went a goal down, but it was good to see the fight in the boys and the turnaround in our performance.
“We were ropey first half with Inveraray showing a lot more aggression and they did really well. We had a slip up at the back which Inveraray punished to take the lead, but we slowly grew into the game before half-time.
“We came out and played a lot better and dominated most of the second half. We had a number of chances and eventually got the breakthrough when Luke (Thornton) scored and Will (Cowie) gave us the lead. We saw out the rest of the game to win it in the end. It was great to give a debut to Daniel Macmillan who has joined us from Oban Celtic.
“It was great to get minutes into everyone’s legs on what was a difficult surface and we now have one more friendly match remaining; against Bute at the Dunoon Stadium on Saturday.”
