With one more Saturday to go until the start of the new shinty season Lochaber teams were back in preseason action once more at the weekend.
Oban Camanachd 1 Lochaber 0
Oban Camanachd edged out Lochaber in a feisty encounter at Mossfield on Saturday.
There was a minute’s silence ahead of throw up following the sad passing of goalkeeper Dougie MacDonald.
Oban Camanachd manager Daniel Cameron said: "Everyone at Oban Camanachd is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of young Dougie MacDonald.
Dougie was more than a talented goalkeeper; he was a cherished teammate and friend.
"His commitment to the club, his passion for the game and his positive spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
"Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Dougie’s family, friends and teammates at this incredibly difficult time."
The game’s defining moment came a couple of minutes short of the half-hour mark when Ross Campbell produced a good strike following a well-worked corner.
Lochaber manager Ally Ferguson said: "It was a good game and the boys put in a great team effort, where both defences seemed to be on top.
"The weather conditions were very wet, it was windy and soft under foot, but the park was in great condition and it was good for us to play a strong Oban side at Mossfield.
"Oban were evidently the better side in the early part of the game, but we finished strongly and we were unlucky not to get a draw out of it with the Oban keeper making some good saves.
"Jack Dignan stood in for us in goal for the day and our defence protected him well. I would say that both teams had a good run out and the match was played in a good competitive spirit."
Glenurquhart 1 Kinlochshiel 2
Kinlochshiel were winners against Glenurquhart in a keenly fought match at Blairbeg.
Shiel defenders Conor Cormack and WD MacRae missed out as both were working whilst Ollie MacRae is in New Zealand.
John MacRae and Jordan Fraser gave Shiel a 2-0 lead before Andrew Corrigan scored the home goal late on.
Kinlochshiel manager Willie MacRae said: "It was a really good workout on a tacky pitch.
"The most important thing was to get minutes in the legs but it’s nice to win too."
Kinlochshiel complete their preseason friendly against Lovat at Balgate on Saturday.
Newtonmore 6 Kilmallie 1
Newtonmore were winners in their preseason friendly against Kilmallie at The Eilan.
Iain Robinson scored twice for More, one a penalty while Struan Ross, Declan Brannan, Euan Dingwall and Craig McIsaac got the others.
Innes Blackhall replied with a good goal for Kilmallie, surging forward from midfield before playing a clever
one-two and finishing low into the net.
It doesn’t get any easier for Kilmallie as they travel to play Kingussie this weekend whilst Newtonmore host Skye Camanachd.
The annual Iain Aitchison Cup match between Ballachulish and the Kilmallie second team at The Jubilee Park was postponed due to the inclement weather.
The match between Fort William and Skye Camanachd at An Aird was also a midweek casualty due to sickness bug and bouts of flu affecting a number of Skye players.
Saturday’s second team game between Lochaber and Skye at Spean Bridge was also called off.
