A stunning sunny day saw Lochgilphead Bowling Club’s fun open day bring in all ages to try out the sport of bowling.
As Try Bowls club affiliated to Bowls Scotland, the Lochgilphead club welcomes people along on a Tuesday at 6.30pm and Thursday at 2pm but Saturday’s event was a family affair.
There was face-painting by Michaela Bruce, a musical performance by the Forget Me Not Choir, which was also given a donation from the club by president Craig Bruce and a ‘spider run’ competition.
This involves bowlers lining up along the edges of the green and all throwing a bowl towards the jack in the centre, with the bowl nearest the jack winning.
In this case youngster Darra Crawford got his bowl closest and was given a prize by the president.

“What a fantastic day we had for our Try Bowls event on Saturday, with wonderful weather adding to the occasion,” said a spokesperson for the club.
“We were delighted by the amazing turnout, with so many people giving bowls a try for the very first time.”
