Councillor for Dunoon Daniel Hampsey has joined Reform UK after leaving the Tories, becoming the party’s first representative in Argyll and Bute.
Hampsey is the 22nd Scottish local representative to join Reform UK, which was recently handed over to the leadership of fellow former Tory Malcom Offord north of the border.
Conservative politicians have been joining the Nigel Farage led cause en-masse in the last year. Hampsey appeared today beside Malcom Offord to speak publicly about the move.
On his defection, Hampsey said: "I am delighted to have joined Reform UK. It is clear that Reform is the only alternative to the broken political establishment in Scotland.
"I am confident with the leadership of Malcolm Offord, Reform will bring the much-needed change that the people of Scotland are crying out for."
Reform have now passed 12,500 members in Scotland, according to Offord, and are currently polling as the third most popular party in the country, far behind the SNP and right on the tail of Labour.
