Plans have been lodged for 16 new homes to be constructed at Dalmally.
West Highland Housing Association has applied to Argyll and Bute Council for planning permission for the development adjacent to Oakfield at Glenview.
The proposals would see eight semi-detached houses and eight cottage flats constructed, with developers viewing the plans as an extension of existing housing at Scott Terrace.
The council is expected to rule on the plans by mid-March, with the public now able to view the plans and submit feedback.
A design statement by planning agents MAST Architects said: “The proposed development is located in Dalmally, to the west of Scott Terrace, and to the south of the A85. Currently the site is an unused field.
“The site is bounded by housing at Scott Terrace to the east by larger private houses and hotels located on the A85 to the north, and by open countryside to the south and west.
“We intend to create the housing development as an extension to the existing housing at Scott Terrace.
“The application site is divided into two areas; the housing area and the SUDS (sustainable drainage systems) area. These zones are connected by a swale, which forms the drainage connection between them.
“Currently, the site is identified in the Argyll and Bute Local Development Plan (LDP2) as designated for 49 houses. Local amenities are within walking distance, as are bus routes, and Dalmally train station which is less than a mile away.”
The statement also made reference to a housing survey, which conducted in 2020 and received 169 responses.
It added: “One of the principal issues highlighted by the community was a lack of affordable housing in the area.
“A lack of good quality, affordable housing for those wanting to live, work and raise their families in the area was identified as a risk to the long-term sustainability of the local population.
“Comments mentioned the cost of housing in the area being too high for local families, and many properties having been bought as second homes.
“Development of new housing was identified as a main priority of the action plan, and carrying out a housing need and demand survey was an output action.”
