Dalintober Primary School and ELC is celebrating a double success after securing its eighth Eco-Schools Green Flag Award and achieving a Silver ‘Reading Schools’ Award.
The honours recognise the school’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and fostering a strong reading culture among pupils.
Dalintober’s eco reps, from Primary 1 to Primary 7, recently celebrated the attainment of the school’s eighth Green Flag Award, recognising years of commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability projects within the school community.
The school has also achieved the Silver ‘Reading Schools’ Award from the Scottish Book Trust following earlier success with the Core Award.

The accolade highlights efforts to build a love of reading through initiatives including book swaps, reading cafés, World Book Day activities and author events.
In addition, Dalintober has become the first local recipient of Tesco Campbeltown’s Free Fruit and Veg for Schools funding. The initiative forms part of Tesco’s nationwide commitment to help one million children access free fruit and vegetables.
The funding will support the school’s breakfast and after-school provision, while expanding opportunities for cooking experiences, healthy snacks, food-growing projects and learning around nutrition and sustainability.
Pupils also recently welcomed community engagement officer PC Cameron Shaw, from Campbeltown Police Station, to the school.
During the visit, older pupils learned about online safety while younger classes discussed the role of police and other people who help within the community.

Head teacher Caroline Armour said: “As a school and ELC community, we are delighted and very proud to have attained both our eighth Green Flag and Silver Reading Award, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable education and reading and supporting children’s rights to learn about environmental impact and to access, and to enjoy and engage with a range of texts and genres.
“We are very grateful to all staff members who lead on these areas of learning.
“Additionally, we are very grateful to extend our already very strong community links with Tesco Campbeltown and to work in liaison with community engagement officer PC Shaw.
“The Tesco Free Fruit and Veg for Schools funding enhances our commitment to reduce the cost of the school day for our children and families and ensures access to healthy food and snacks.
“Our partnership with PC Shaw ensures pupils, staff and parent/carers are informed and knowledgeable about staying safe in a rapidly evolving digital world. We look forward to building on these community partnerships.”
