Trust seeks nominations for micro-ecovillage group

KLCT is working towards the creation of six affordable homes for rent, five woodland crofts, two business units, a community growing area, two affordable house sites and one open market house site. 

These developments will take place on two sites the trust has recently bought from Forestry and Land Scotland through a community asset transfer.

KLCT chair Maggie Byrne said: “To ensure the success of the Micro-ecovillage project it is important that decisions taken by the Trust are well informed by the needs and views of the range of people who have a stake in the development. 

"The purpose of the liaison group is to pass those views and needs to KLCT on the basis of group members’ own views and their understanding of wider views in the locality.”

KLCT has identified the following list of stakeholder categories: KLCT representative (chair); Loch Duich Community Council representative; Ratagan representative(s) (up to two because of larger population and more complex development); Saraig representative; Wider loch side representative (Leacachan to Druidaig); Housing need representative; Aspiring woodland crofter representative; Business representative; Youth representative (under 30); Parent/carer of pre-school or school age child.

Maggie Byrne added that the Trust would welcome anyone who feels they fit one or more of these categories to nominate themselves as a member of the liaison group.
