Bidean nam Bian is more a mountain range than a single mountain, a huge and complex mass of dramatic crags, ridges and summits towering on the south side of Glen Coe.
Bidean nam Bian, the highest peak is hidden from the road behind the Three Sisters.
A direct ascent on the W face of Aonach Dubh by the Dinnertime Buttress scramble leads to a classic mountain walk along the roof of Glen Coe, high above its Three Sisters.
An alternative start uses the Zig-Zags scramble up the nose of Gearr Aonach, followed by an ascent of the NE ridge of Stob Coire nan Lochan. Both routes converging at the summit.
A shorter route omits Stob Coire Sgreamhach and the two Beinn Fhada summits.
14km, 1720m ascent
16km, 1640m ascent – via the Zig-Zag scramble
10km, 1309m ascent – omitting Stob Coire Sgreamhach and the two Beinn Fhada summits.
