Jasmin Manning has been selected for the RNLI Running Crew in the London Marathon, a small group of runners drawn from crew, supporters and fundraisers around the UK.
She is one of two Scots in a 31-strong team.
Jasmin, who was one of the Oban crew’s ’May Day Milers’, says the new running club is a way to way to share her love of running with others.
“The Lifeboat Running Club is a fun way of bringing people together to have a wee run on a Wednesday evening,” says Jasmin.
“We’ll meet at the lifeboat station on the South Pier and do a different running activity each week to suit people’s abilities.”
Jasmin has set a target to raise £2,600 for the RNLI in donations and sponsorship from running the marathon – the cost of one all-weather lifeboat crew member’s full seagoing kit, including boots, lifejacket and helmet.
“Along the way I will be taking the opportunity to talk to everyone who comes to the running club about the work of Oban Lifeboat. If people who come to the running club choose to make a wee donation or help promote the fundraising, that will be lovely.”
