Over 100 people got together to celebrate the unveiling of the new Earra Gael viewing platform at Tarbert Harbour.
The event featured music, food, and speeches for attendees, marking the completion of new streetscaping, improved lighting, and public art along the harbour wall.
A new stone sculpture designed by Mid Argyll artist Melanie Chmielewska, aimed at celebrating Tarbert through the years, was also unveiled.
A spokesperson for Tarbert Harbour Authority said: “The extended seating area and timber viewing platform is going to be a focal point for the community, families, and visitors who can relax on the harbour front watching the local boats move around the harbour.
"The extended space will also benefit local businesses by providing additional seating for customers who purchase takeaways”.
The platform is also expected to play a role in September’s Live at the Loch music festival.
Guests on Saturday April 25 were treated to music from Tarbert’s piper John Hunt before proceedings began on the sunny afternoon.
Tarbert Harbourmaster Darren Mair opened the event with remarks thanking all those who contributed to the project, before inviting local community champion Margaret MacNeill to speak.
Mrs MacNeill’s speech was described as perfectly capturing the “mood of the day”.
The platform project was built by local contractor Duncan MacGregor and funded by Argyll and Bute Council through a CES Public Realm Grant..
Two notable Tarbert figures, 2025’s Seafood Queen Amber Smith and Citizen of the Year Stewart McLean, helped to unveil the stone statue on the platform.
Featuring key elements such as a traditional skiff, herring and Tarbert Castle, the statue is a nod to the area’s longstanding maritime traditions.
Tarbert Harbour Authority took to social media after the event to thank a number of contributors, including the project team, attendees, and the local community who supported the day.
A special tribute was paid to new restaurant Chicchetti, which provided food for attendees.
