Argyll Community Housing Association is taking action in response to a wave of vandalism and anti-social behaviour on an Oban estate.
For years, residents of Catalina Avenue and Sunderland Drive say they have been forced to deal with the unruly behaviour of a gang of youths.
The group have been banging on doors and windows in the dark of night, smashing plant pots, tipping over bins and recently smashed a hole in one property’s garden fence.
One resident said: "This has been an ongoing problem for as long as I’ve lived here, and that is five years this past September.
"Obviously, the individuals involved differ from year to year, but still it continues. From the sound of their voices, they are pretty young. My neighbours tell me these children are not residents of any of the flats here."
Now with the recent damage, ACHA have ramped up its response and called in for the help of police.
Officers have begun patrols in the area in an effort to catch the culprits and prevent any more damage to the estate.
Michelle Mundie, chief executive of ACHA, said: "We are aware of an incident that occurred recently involving a small group of youths in the vicinity of one of our closes. Our team is currently looking into the matter. As part of our follow‑up, our community caretaker repaired a damaged fence slat on the same day.
"We have also received reports of youths knocking on windows in the area. We recognise that this behaviour is unsettling, particularly for our older tenants, and we take these concerns extremely seriously.
"As a precaution, we have contacted the local police to request an increased presence and support in the area.
"If anyone in the community has further information or concerns, we encourage them to get in touch."
