A well-attended exhibition of works by Quilt Arran members at Corrie and Sannox Village Hall has, once again, highlighted the extraordinary talent and skills of its members.
The biannual exhibition showcases the results of geometrically complex, detailed and intricate embroidery and quilting work that can take months, or even years, to complete.
As is tradition, the exhibition took place over three days on the May bank holiday weekend and provided visitors with an ideal opportunity to inspect the works and also to meet the makers of the items.

On show for the visitors and supporters was a large selection of traditional quilts, cushions, homeware, fashion items and related products.
To help add some fun, Quilt Arran also hosts a “best in show” competition and a “challenge” competition where members produce an item according to a theme. This year’s theme was birds and visitors selected their favourites challenge items and their favourite item in show. On the final day of the exhibition, the votes are counted and prizes are presented to the winners.
In addition to the fine works on display, the exhibition also includes a tea and home baking fundraiser which allows visitors to meet some of the group members and to learn more about the craft. Seasoned quilters also attend the event to learn new tips and tricks and to share patterns, ideas and inspiration.
Quilt Arran was established in 2013 and its members meet twice a month at Corrie and Sannox Village Hall. Anyone interested in learning how to quilt, those with experience but wishing to improve their skills, or those just wanting to enjoy the social aspect, are invited to join the friendly and welcoming group.
The group currently enjoys a wide range of members, from very experienced stitchers to absolute beginners, and it regularly welcomes visitors and locals who wish to learn more about all aspects of quilting.
