Oban’s branch of builders merchants Travis Perkins is closing today (Friday May 15) with the loss of all five jobs, and it has no plans to close its other West Coast outlets in Fort William and Lochgilphead.
Staff in Oban were informed on Monday that the store in Glenshellach Business Park would close in five days, and that its five staff would be made redundant, The Oban Times understands.
Travis Perkins told us the closure follows a "review of branch performance and operational priorities", and that there are no plans to close any other Scottish branches.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We can confirm we will be exiting our Oban branch based on Glenshellach Business Park with effect from Friday.
“This difficult decision has been made following a recent review of branch performance and operational priorities. We are working hard to support colleagues affected.
“We’d like to thank all our customers for their support at the branch.
"There are no plans to close the branches in Lochgilphead and Fort William.
"There are no other plans for closing any of our Scottish branches."
