Robert MacIntyre will bid to win his first career Major as he tees it up this week at the USPGA Championship.
The 29-year-old left-hander heads into the year’s second major championship at Aronimink Golf Club outside Philadelphia looking to put a disappointing couple of PGA Tour events behind him.
He shared 60th place in the Truist Championship last week after shooting a two-over total, following on from a tie for 42nd place at the RBC Heritage and a missed cut at The Masters in Augusta.
He will take heart though from his tied-eighth finish at the USPGA Championship in 2024, which remains his best result in the tournament to date, while he also came agonisingly close to a maiden major title when he finished runner-up at the 2025 US Open to winner, American JJ Spaun.
The Scot has also enjoyed a solid start to 2026, including an impressive fourth-place finish at The Players Championship earlier this spring, where he briefly challenged for victory heading into the closing stages at TPC Sawgrass. His recent drop off in form though, which has seen his drop to 12th in the world, will be a concern and something he will be looking to rectify this week.
MacIntyre’s combination of power off the tee and direct approach play always makes him a dangerous competitor on demanding championship layouts. And this will be no different.
Speaking earlier this season, he made it clear that he believes he can challenge at the very highest level, insisting he feels increasingly comfortable competing alongside the sport’s biggest names.
