Family and friends of missing Golden Retriever Louie came out in force on Saturday in order to build momentum for his search and to raise money for the organisations that have helped in the hunt so far.
Louie’s owner Louise Manson organised a sponsored walk from Steall Falls down to the Lower Falls and so far the funds raised are in excess of £2, 500 with cash donations still to be collected.
Monies raised will be split between Ayrshire Drone Dog Rescue (ADDR), Lost Dog Tracking Network and K9-SAR who have all helped in the search for Louie since he went missing in the Steall Falls area in May last year.
Louie’s owner Louise Manson said: "Thank you to everyone who turned up for the walk.
"It was so lovely to meet everyone and finally put faces to names.
"An incredible amount has been raised so far through GoFundMe (Raise funds for lost dog organisations), with more still to come once I’ve collected and counted the cash donations."
Since Louie slipped his lead while out on a walk with his family the three search teams have contributed to the huge effort in locating him - supplying cameras, drones and other vital equipment to help locate the missing dog.
Thanks to the technology a number of sightings have been confirmed over the ensuing months giving the family hope that their much loved pet is still alive and waiting to be found.
"This truly couldn’t have been done without all the help and support of these teams," added Louise.
"The money raised is a small token of gratitude for everything they have done—and continue to do.
"Louie is a therapy dog for my daughter who has epilepsy. He’s probably all of our best friend and we miss him desperately after almost eight months. We just need him home.
"Every single penny raised will go towards helping dogs and families in this situation."
Meanwhile the search for Louie continues. Sightings should be reported to Louise through the Official search page: Looking for Louie with a pinned location and a photo if possible. Members of the public are being asked not to search for, chase, or call him.
