Oban Camanachd have confirmed their preseason programme ahead of the forthcoming shinty season.
The red and blacks will open with a friendly fixture against Col Glen, newly promoted to the Mowi Premiership for the first time, with the match taking place on Saturday February 14 2026.
Then, a week later, Daniel Cameron’s troops take on the topflight’s other newly promoted side, Mowi National Division champions and Ferguson Transport & Shipping Balliemore Cup holders Lochaber.
Both games are likely to take place at Mossfield.
The Oban club are also looking into the possibility of a ‘bounce game’ between Camanachd and Lochside Rovers on Saturday 28 February 2026.
With Gary McKerracher and Connor Howe already added to their squad, Oban Camanachd have been working hard ahead of the new campaign, and the club has already held the Donald ‘Moonis’ MacVicar Quaich game at Mossfield on Hogmanay when the under-30s beat the over-30s 2-0.
Oban Camanachd assistant manager Iain MacMillan said: “We’ve been cracking on with things behind the scenes. Daniel Cameron, Aidan Macintyre and I had a meeting before the festive break to go over things and make sure we are prepared for the coming season. We put together individual player programmes for the guys, so they all know what they need to work on during the close season.
“That means that on top of training on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the players have a fitness schedule including running and hill sprints which they started a week last Saturday. We will continue with that right up to the first friendly match in mid- February.”
