A brother-and-sister duo from Tobermory have both been shortlisted for the prestigious FilmG Awards.
Gaelic media student Karis Brown has two short films, Le Sùilean Eile and Saoghal Eile and Ceanglaichean, nominated in the final four of the Film Choice Award category.
Her younger brother, Bailey Brown, has also received two nominations for his film An Sgiobair, which has been shortlisted in both the Film Choice Award and Factual categories. The film is based on Bailey’s Seanair (grandfather), Alasdair Maclean, a fisherman from Tobermory.
Both Karis and Bailey are fluent Gaelic speakers, with Karis currently studying Gaelic Media at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on the Isle of Skye.
FilmG is Scotland’s national Gaelic short film competition. Since launching in 2008, more than 1,300 films have been submitted. The competition offers a fantastic opportunity for young people to create and produce short films in Gaelic, helping to celebrate and promote the language through film.
The awards ceremony will be hosted at the SEC Centre in Glasgow on June 11.
