Kyles Athletic were 5-1 winners against Oban Celtic in their 1pm throw up at Mossfield.
Will Cowie and Scott Macdonald both bagged doubles and teenager Ethan Kerr was also on target.
Kyle’s manager Grant Profit said: “We scored straight from throw up and nearly got a second shortly after, but it was ruled out for offside. Our second goal came soon after following an excellent Ross Macrae free hit to Scott Macdonald who slotted the ball away well.
“We did let Oban Celtic back into the game, and they got a goal back before half-time, following a lapse in concentration from our defenders.
“The first 10 minutes of the second half was quite even but we eventually took hold and had a number of chances to put the game to bed before getting our third goal 15 minutes before the end and two more goals followed.”
“It was great to have Will Cowie back from injury, and we gave new signing Ali Thomson a debut as well as first senior appearances for Luke MacVicar, James Morley and Rob Anderson.
“It was a good workout on a big grass pitch, and it was good to be back playing again.
“There’s lots to work on though ahead of the start of the new season on Saturday March 7.”
Ross Macrae was a standout player for Kyles Athletic whilst keeper Cammy Mccallum made some outstanding saves for Oban Celtic who are again sponsored by The Oban Inn this season.
