Eight members of Tarbert Golf Club headed to Comrie Golf Club in Perthshire on Friday May 8 to play for the MacKay Challenge trophy.
They were warmly received by all at Comrie and they found the course to be in excellent condition and enjoyed the fantastic catering on offer.
It was a close affair with Peter Boyd posting 34 points after some excellent putting, he was matched by the host Scott MacKay also on 34.
However after close checking of the cards Peter emerged victorious with the coveted trophy by virtue of the better inward half.
Third place went to Bruce MacNab on 32 points by virtue of the better last six holes over his cousin James.
Longest drive on the 9th went to Bruce and closest to the pin on 18 was Andrew Henderson.
Captain Henderson and his troops headed south on Saturday May 9 to close neighbours Carradale for the playing of the ’wee John Smith Cup’.
The host club came out on top with a 3-2 victory in a closely contested match. The Tarbert players were extremely grateful to their Carradale counterparts for their excellent hospitality and camaraderie.
On Saturday May 18 at Glenralloch the second round of the President’s Cup takes place along with the first round of the John Reid Quaich.
