Fort Reserves 3
Kyleakin 1
WHAFL
Fort William FC Reserves first home game of the season saw them take on south Skye side Kyleakin FC in a match which ended 3-1 to the hosts.
With a squad which included a literal father and son duo in Dave and Marc Forbes, the Claggan Park second string were looking to secure their first win of the season.
The first half saw the Reserves on the front foot and making all the running.
A free kick on the right hand side of the pitch allowed Dave Forbes to pull out some of the old magic and send a rasping long range drive into the box which evaded everyone to open the scoring.
After that, Fort should have scored three or four times but some decent last ditch tackles and some hesitant finishing saw them unable to capitalise on some very slick build up play.
As is often the way, that lack of building on the advantage came back to bite them as Kyleakin equalised as the half drew to a close with players and spectators howling for offside.
The second half followed a similar pattern. The second string continued to showcase their range of passing abilities, spraying ambitious balls wide and mixing it up with short interplay as well.
With the hour mark approaching, Fort restored the advantage as Lewis Luton made no mistake from a penalty after a bizarre and unnecessary foul saw the referee award a spot kick.
Both teams continued trying to play attractive football and Kyleakin managed to get the ball into the net once again, only to see their effort ruled out for offside this time.
As the clock wound down and the visitors tired, substitute Adam Morris pounced at the back post to make it 3-1 just as the islanders were beginning to put some phases of play together.
The win condemns the visitors to a third straight league defeat while Fort find themselves having won one, lost one so far this term.
Their next game is on Friday May 15 when they welcome Lochalsh to Claggan Park for another 7.30pm evening kick off.
