Tiree ranger Hayley Douglas headed to Buckingham Palace after royalty send her a garden party invite.
Hayley was at the palace after accepting the invite from the Duke of Edinburgh to join in a celebration for young people who have achieved a Gold in the awards scheme that was started 70 years ago by his father.
Hayley herself got to silver level of the award but never got to gold after the foot and mouth crisis got in the way.
But on Wednesday she was able to join in others success as part of a group representing the UK’s Army Cadets.
This will be the third year that army cadets have landed on Tiree after choosing the island as the destination for their gold award residential.
The first year the cadets came, the unit came from Oxfordshire but such was the success that 12 months later, cadets from all over the UK wanted to come.
Later this year, more cadets going for gold are due to arrive.
Hayley said she had ’dug out’ an outfit for the garden party including heels that had not been worn for a long time.
Before setting off for the royal date, she said: "I’ll have to dust myself off after lambing and look a little less like a feral ranger."
