Lochgilphead’s Community Shop is looking for more volunteers to keep its vulnerable adults scheme running.
The Argyll Street store sells affordable items for everyone in Lochgilphead, with every donation or purchase going towards vital community projects.
Additionally, the shop runs a scheme helping adults with learning difficulties and disabilities gain experience in a retail environment, with the aim of boosting their confidence.
Shop manager Scott McBride said more volunteers would allow him to continue the scheme, which is currently at capacity.
He added: “We can never have enough volunteers. They make such a difference, and we can’t go on without them.
“The key message from me is that each person must be willing to get something out of it.
“Retail offers a major employment opportunity in a small town like Lochgilphead, and people can build their skills here at the shop.”
Flexibility is at the heart of the shop’s volunteer ethos, with every potential assistant given the chance to set working hours that suit them.
Those who decide to take on the role also have a say in which part of the operation they help with, whether that be working on the till out front or assisting behind the scenes.
Volunteers also have the opportunity to take part in a number of free online courses aimed at boosting employment prospects and confidence.
Anyone interested will be invited for an informal chat to discuss the best way to make the opportunity work for them.
New volunteers will also receive a four-week training programme to help them get to grips with how the shop works.
The Community Shop is urging anyone interested to get in touch online or visit the store in person.
