Home Bargains has invested approximately £3million into its new Oban store - which will officially open at 8am on Saturday.
The firm revealed today that the venture is creating a total of 68 new jobs in the area - and saving some of those lost when previous tenant Homebase closed its doors.
Stephen McLaughlin is the new Oban store manager, returning to the role he held there with Homebase.
He said: "I’m absolutely delighted to be the manager at Home Bargains, I feel privileged to be given this opportunity and intend to
make our new store a great success.
"I was the manager of Homebase, who occupied the building previously, for seven years, so I’m familiar with the local area and trade patterns, which hopefully will stand us in good stead going forward.
"I have managed to ‘re-hire’ a number of my team who worked with me before, which has helped to integrate all of the new employees and create a family environment within the store."
The 19,558 sq. ft store, will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food. It will also have an in-store bakery, café and a garden centre.
Stephen added: “Oban is known as the ‘gateway to the islands’ we can’t wait to welcome all of our customers from the local area and the surrounding islands and showcasing the Home Bargains brand.”
