Arran Community and Voluntary Service (Arran CVS), in conjunction with Neurodevelopmental Empowerment and Strategy Team (NEST), hosted a well-attended health and care event at Ormidale Pavilion in Brodick.
The information and networking event was aimed at assembling a number of service providers, charities and organisations, under one roof for visitors to be able to discover what health, care and wellbeing support is available for Arran residents.
Almost 20 organisations were represented at the event, including Ayrshire Independent Living Network, Carers Gateway, Heather Lodge, Thistle Help, Ko-Nekt, Stroke Association, Disability Arran, Community Brokerage Network, 1st Alliance Bank, Home Energy Scotland, Turning Point Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, ArCaS, along with representatives from Arran CVS’ Link Worker, Blether Buddies, Community Transport, Lunch Clubs and Craft, Coffee and Chat Group projects.

In addition to learning about all of the organisations and what they offer, visitors were also able to speak to representatives about their individual circumstances and to meet some of the faces behind the organisations.
Following the well-attended event, NEST representatives hosted a number of workshops over two days at Ormidale Pavilion. Visiting representatives, who help individuals and families living with neurodevelopmental differences (autism, ADHD, and FASD) in Ayrshire, hosted various workshops, including sleeping support, inclusive communication, and an “Introduction to Neurodiversity” workshop.

Arran CVS was established in 1965 to co-ordinate voluntary efforts on Arran. The charity provides a wide range of information and services to voluntary and community groups and spearheads a number of projects that benefit Arran’s residents. These include lunch clubs, transport groups, social groups, as well as administering funding initiatives and networking opportunities for volunteers and businesses.
In partnership with Ayrshire Community Trust, Arran CVS supports and represents North Ayrshire’s “third sector” at both a local and national level by providing an interface between the island community, local government, regional, national, and other bodies.
