The Arran community will have an opportunity to share their views on ferry service priorities and their thoughts about which CalMac vessels should best serve the island when the ferry operator hosts a consultation event on Arran later this month.
The public consultation event will be held in Brodick Hall on Tuesday May 26 from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. The event, CalMac say, will allow islanders to help shape vessel deployment plans through to 2028.
CalMac published its vessel deployment, disposal and cascade plan (VDDCP) in December 2025, outlining its plans for the redeployment of vessels across the network, fleet modernisation, and details on how it can improve service delivery to support communities.
A CalMac spokeswoman said: “The VDDCP states that over the next four years we are undertaking one of the most significant modernisation programmes in our fleet’s history. It sets out how we will deploy new vessels, cascade existing ones to new routes, and responsibly retire older vessels.
“We want to shape the final version of the plan through meaningful engagement and consultation with the local community. This event will give people the chance to share their priorities regarding the ferry service.”
The VDDCP can be viewed online by searching for ‘CalMac vessel redeployment plan.’
Anyone who has questions, or can not make the consultation on May 26 can share their views by email at arranvesseldeployment@calmac.co.uk by Tuesday June 16.
Island communities across the west coast will be consulted before any final decisions are made on vessel deployment.
