Scams, theft and assault of staff kept Oban Police busy this week.
Fuel theft
Between 5pm on Monday January 26 and 8am on Tuesday January 27 a quantity of red diesel and ad blue were stolen from a site near Bovuy on the A819 north of the B840 (between Cladich and Dalmally).

Threatening and Abusive Behaviour
At about 3.30pm on Wednesday January 28 a 51 year old male was arrested and charged with Threatening and Abusive Behaviour towards staff at RS McColls, George Street, Oban.
As the male had provided false details to Police, when his identification was confirmed, he was also charged with Attempting to Pervert the Course of Justice. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Fraud
On Thursday January 29 a resident in Oban has contacted Police to report being the victim of a Fraud.
The victim had contacted a website developer via Facebook.
Between Thursday December 11 and Tuesday December 23 the victim has made six separate payments to a bank account to pay for the website to be set up.
The website has not been set up and the victim has been unable to contact the scammer. Police are investigating.
Assault and possession of a knife
During the early hours of Friday January 30 a 25 year old male was arrested after assaulting a staff member outside of Markie Dans, Victoria Crescent, Oban, following a disturbance.
The male was released on Undertaking to appear at Oban Sheriff Court at a later date.
A 24 year old male, who was searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 was also arrested after being found in possession of a knife.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Drugs
During the early hours of Sunday February 1 on the A819 at Inveraray Police have stopped a vehicle whilst on routine patrol.
A 39 year old male and a 20 year old male were detained under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and found in possession of cannabis.
The circumstances will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Scam
Police received a report of a male attending at an address at Pulpit Rock, Oban on the afternoon of Sunday February 1 at about 4.45pm.
The male claimed to be conducting a survey.
He is described as tall, slight build with grey hair and a grey beard and an English accent, wearing a high-visibility vest.
