Campbeltown Bowling Club’s Archie Johnston Memorial Club Pairs competition was held on the green on Sunday.
A strong entry of 18 pairs competed throughout the day in three sections, with the section winners and the highest runners-up progressing to the semi-finals.
In the first semi-final, Shirley Bannatyne and Donald Anderson took an early lead against Gavin McLachlan and Bobby Dalziel.
Gavin and Bobby fought back and, holding a two-shot advantage playing the final end, held on for victory despite a jack trail from Shirley.
The second semi-final saw Steven Dickson and John McCormick move into an early lead against Kenny Kerr and Charles Lang.
Steven and John continued to build their advantage and ran out convincing winners.
The final began with Gavin and Bobby taking an early four-shot lead, but Steven and John responded with a count of four on the third end.
Strong bowling then saw them open up a five-shot advantage going into the last end and, despite Gavin and Bobby’s best efforts, Steven and John secured the title.
Club president Lorraine Brodie carried out the prizegiving, thanking all players, committee members and helpers for their work and participation in making the competition a success.
She also thanked the Johnston family for their continued sponsorship and support, which the club greatly appreciates.
Lorraine then invited John Johnston and Margaret Anderson to present the trophy and prizes on behalf of the family.
