The fourth year of the Kilkerran MOK Triathlon series got under way in Campbeltown on Sunday, with the first of three events to be held across South Kintyre.
A total of 50 competitors took part across two disciplines – a junior aquathlon and an adult super sprint triathlon – with athletes travelling from across Argyll and beyond to compete in warm and sunny conditions.
The triathlon followed the same race profile as previous years, with the swim section taking place at the Aqualibrium pool before competitors headed out on the bike and run sections around Campbeltown.

Adult competitors completed a 400m swim, followed by an 11km flat bike leg, before finishing with a 3.2km run around the Askomils and Kinloch Park, where spectators gathered to cheer competitors across the finish line.
The aquathlon saw competitors split into Tristar age groups. Tristar 1 athletes completed a 150m swim and 1.2km run, while Tristar 2 and 3 competitors tackled a 200m swim followed by a 1.8km run around Kinloch Park.
Competition for the overall male and female titles was intense, with ideal race conditions of warm sunshine and only a light breeze helping produce a series of impressive performances throughout the day.

The standout performance came from Andrew Meechan of Mid Argyll Triathlon Club, who claimed victory in a new course record time of 40 minutes and 38 seconds – 10 seconds faster than the previous record set in 2024.
Meechan finished almost five minutes ahead of nearest rival Ross Campbell of MOK Tri Team, who completed the course in 45:23. Scott Ferguson rounded off the top three in 48:48.
The women’s race was equally competitive. Jacqueline Redares of Grangemouth Triathlon secured victory after a strong bike and run section saw her finish in 49:55.
Laura Massey pushed Redares all the way, finishing just seven seconds behind in 50:02, while Hannah Miller held on for third place in 51:38.
Three teams contested the relay event, with The Tri Hards edging out Trail Fairies in a close contest to win in 45:10.
Eight juniors took part in the aquathlon across two age categories, with organisers praising the effort and enthusiasm shown by all competitors, including several first-time triathletes.
In the nine-10 age group, Lola Skibinska claimed victory in 7:40, ahead of Sorley Ross in 9:25 and Finlay Taylor in 9:48.
Kyle McQuaker produced a strong performance to win the 11+ category in 10:08. Niamh McSporran finished second in 10:52, with Erika Bain third in 11:23.
The next event in the series will take place on July 5 and will feature a sprint-distance race in the Campbeltown area, before the finale in Machrihanish on August 16.
Organisers hope the series will continue to grow participation in triathlon across Kintyre while promoting health, wellbeing and community involvement.
