Lochaber Rotary Club’s weekly business lunch on Wednesday January 21 transformed itself into a Burns Supper very ably chaired by President David Mee.
The haggis was piped in to Burns’ "A Man’s A Man for A’ That" with David reciting the Address to the Haggis.
Rotarian Peter Murphy delivered the Selkirk Grace and, following an excellent traditional haggis, neeps and tatties main course and Raspberry Cranachan dessert, all courtesy of the Alexandra Hotel, members launched into several Robert Burns songs led by Past President John Hutchison.
Popular tunes included "Ae Fond Kiss" and "Rantin’ Rovin’ Robin" finishing with "My Love is Like a Red Red Rose".
John reminded members that Bob Dylan had once described the latter as one of the greatest inspirational love songs ever.
Members also remembered the late Rotarian and Burns song advocate Charlie Moore.
President David thanked all Rotarians and family and guests for attending what had been a happy and very successful dinner with special thanks to John and to the staff of the Alexandra Hotel.
