The Western Isles council have launched a new creative fund to “recognise” the importance of arts and culture in shaping the islands.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is inviting applicants to apply for a share of the £110,000 creative and cultural industries fund,being supported through the Crown Estate revenue funding.
Projects covering the creative industries, arts and culture, Gaelic and heritage are being encouraged to apply.
Applications strengthening local communities, nurturing creative talent and stimulating economic growth are expected to be prioritised.
Councillor Donald Crichton, chair of the Comhairle’s Sustainable Development Committee, said: “This fund recognises the fundamental role of arts, culture, language and heritage in shaping our islands’ economy and communities.
“By targeting support to organisations and projects that deliver clear social and economic impact, the Comhairle aims to maximise the value of this investment to the Outer Hebrides.”
A minimum of £5,000 and a maximum of £30,000 can be applied for.
The closing date for applications is April 30, with the final decision expected to be made by May 15.
