When actress Julie Wilson Nimmo spoke at the Balamory Premiere in April, she told The Oban Times she was crossing all her fingers and toes that the show did well enough to get another season.
Well it did. It’s getting two!
The stories of Balamory performed remarkably for Cbeebies, with the first episode of the revival series, One-Man Band, launching to 1.5m screens in its first 28 days.
That makes it the biggest new CBeebies episode of 2026 so far.
BBC has now commissioned Lion Television for two more series of the classic children’s show, which will begin filming in Tobermory this summer.
Casting calls for nursery aged children and families to take part are already out, with local parents urged to email kidscasting@liontv.co.uk to take part.
With filming again split between studio space in Glasgow and the streets of Tobermory, children from all over the country will have the opportunity to appear alongside Miss Hoolie and the gang.
Kate Morton, Senior Head of Commissioning for CBeebies said: “Balamory has always been about community, creativity and helping children understand the world around them.
"Seeing it return and connect so strongly with audiences, both those discovering it for the first time and those who remember it so fondly, has been incredibly special. This recommission is a testament to the enduring power of children’s media make lasting memories and promote kindness, inclusion and togetherness.”
Lisa Hazlehurst, Head of Lion Television Scotland said: “We are thrilled to be able to dream up more adventures for the Balamory gang following the wonderful response to the reboot.
"At Lion Scotland we believe there is something truly magical about seeing real people sharing adventures in one of the most beautiful settings on the planet. Balamory reminds children that kindness and teamwork can solve even the trickiest problems with a little imagination and a healthy dollop of humour.
"We should all be a bit more Balamory.”
